Kathmandu. Students are protesting against the results of Class 12 at Maitighar Mandala in Kathmandu. They have announced the protest alleging that there were errors in the result publication and evaluation process, and that there is no effective system for revaluation and retotaling.
The protest is being led by students including Ranjit Karki, Sahil Rijal, Diwas Shrestha, Smriti Khatiwada, Anshu Pant, and Saheb Sah. They are calling on students across the country to join the protest through social media platforms including WhatsApp, TikTok, and Instagram.
Speaking about the preparations for the protest, Ranjit Karki claimed that injustice has been done to the students. “We have been wronged. It seems that a serious mistake has been made in the name of publishing the results quickly. Some students are facing problems even applying for scholarships, while the results of many have come out different from expectations. That is why we are forced to take to the streets to raise our voice,” he said.
According to the organizers, permission has been obtained from the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, for the demonstration. They also say that necessary security arrangements have been made with the Nepal Police to ensure an orderly and peaceful program.
The students have demanded an impartial investigation, free retotaling, re-examination of answer sheets and complete transparency in the evaluation process. According to them, this dispute is not just a matter of marks but a serious question directly related to the future of thousands of students.
The organizers have drawn the serious attention of the concerned bodies, claiming that four students have committed suicide and thousands of students are under mental stress after the results were made public.
Organizers have urged students, parents, and stakeholders to attend the Maitighar Mandala and show solidarity for transparency, accountability, and student rights in the education sector. They have also warned that more protests will be announced until their demands are met.
