Kathmandu : Chitwan Rhinos, a Nepal Premier League cricket franchise, has announced the Gaida Cup 2026, an academy-level cricket tournament designed to provide young and emerging cricketers with a competitive platform to gain match experience, showcase their talent and take the next step in their cricketing journey. The inaugural edition of the Gaida Cup 2026 will be held from 30 September – 3 October 2026 at Gauritar Cricket Ground, Hetauda, bringing together 12 cricket academies from across Bagmati Province.
The participating academies include Great Himalaya Cricket Academy (GHCA), Cricket Excellence Center (Bhaktapur, Baluwatar and Budhanilkantha), Eastern Cricket Academy, Hetauda Sports Academy, Master Class Cricket Academy, Angles Sports Cricket Academy, Kathmandu Cricket Academy, Bhaktapur Cricket Center, Bharatpur Cricket Academy and Chitwan Training Center, among others. For Chitwan Rhinos, the Gaida Cup represents more than a tournament. It is part of the club’s commitment to grassroots cricket, player development and talent identification, creating a pathway for young cricketers to experience competitive cricket and earn greater exposure.
The tournament will feature a total prize pool of NPR 6,00,000, including NPR 2,00,000 for the champions and NPR 50,000 for the runners-up. Individual awards will further recognize outstanding performances, with Player of the Tournament receiving NPR 10,000, Best Batsman NPR 5,000, Best Bowler NPR 5,000 and Man of the Match NPR 2,000.
